It takes a long time, but God dies too.
Hey dude, a little off-topic and maybe not in your field of knowledge, but i heard someone say that when dealing with sexual violence (such as rape) it is not important to serve justice to the rapist, but more so do do with having someone 'bear witness' to the victim. Do you Agree with this, and if so, wouldn't this tie in with your previous argument? Stay True x

I’m not sure I understand the question.

I would say that both are very important. ‘Bearing witness’ to the victim, as I understand it, would be providing evidence for the victim, right? It sounds to me like bearing witness just acts as justification for the justice part. Now, that doesn’t mean justice as seen in our judicial system, but justice in the universal sense.

In my opinion, justice is decided by the victim. If it can be proven within reason that someone raped another person, that person gets to choose what the punishment should be. No one can tell the victim what they lost when they were assaulted, no one can tell the victim what is and isn’t a fitting punishment. I would hope this system would overwhelmingly result in the death of the rapist.

That’s just what I think your question means, essentially “accountability without punishment”. That doesn’t fly with me. Let me know if I misunderstood.
