oh no, my apology, i was trying to say that The most important thing to a victim is for them to have someone acknowledge that it happened (and whatever else happens after it) in order to be able to deal and come to terms with the crime. But having said that, i think that leads to your already made point, that the accountability of the crime should be understood and judged by the victim to an extent- i believe that the justice system is insufficient and will not fix most of the problems
Ah, well I’m sure it differs from person to person.
Me, personally, I’d like that fucker’s head on a stick, but someone more forgiving might lose sleep over it. In the end, I think it’s important for the village mob to not seek justice for themselves and instead rely heavily on the victim’s opinion. That doesn’t mean ignore it if that’s what the victim wants, because someone like that can’t be trusted, but if they said to let the rapist go, do your best to comply with their wishes while also taking into account the potential danger to others. It’s a hypothetical balancing act, really.
